Summary
In this episode, I’m returning after an unexpected break and reflecting on what these last few weeks have taught me about rest, control, and letting go. My body reached a point where I needed to stop pushing and pause, even though part of me wanted to keep moving forward.
I share how busyness and overthinking can pull me into trying to control outcomes through productivity. When life feels uncertain, my instinct is often to do more, plan more, and try to force clarity. But lately, I’ve been reminded of a different image: swimming upstream against the current versus turning over and allowing yourself to float.
This episode explores what letting go means to me now. It is not about giving up or becoming passive. It is about releasing the need for a specific outcome and trusting that I am supported by my intuition, my guides, the universe, and the people and signs that remind me I am not navigating life alone.
I also reflect on how grief has shaped my relationship with control, especially around the day my dad passed. That experience taught me how painful uncertainty can be and how deeply the human part of me wants to protect against ever feeling that powerless again.
As I sit with that, I’m also reconnecting with my spirituality and asking what it would look like to let more of my true self be visible. I feel called to share not only the practical parts of who I am, but also my belief in intuition, magic, purpose, signs, and the things that cannot always be neatly explained.
This is an invitation to notice where you might be swimming upstream in your own life. What would happen if you loosened your grip on the outcome? What if the next step was not to try harder, but to trust more deeply that you are being carried toward what is meant for you?
This episode is for you if…
You’re feeling stuck and can’t think your way out of how you’re feeling
You’re ready to let your intuition guide the way for you
You’re in the midst of a spiritual awakening and aren’t sure what to make of it all
You’re an overachiever who is tried of trying to do it all
You’re in the middle of grieving, feeling helpless yet ready to step into what’s next

Welcome to The Shoreline, where we explore the tender in-between seasons of the human experience. My name is Kim, and I'm here to support you as you navigate your next becoming. Here, we don't fix, we listen. We don't rush, we allow. Hello and welcome. If you're new here, I'm so happy you've made your way to The Shoreline, and if you're returning, welcome back. I'm so glad that you're here. So I unexpectedly took a couple weeks off and I'm back. There was just a lot going on, a lot of lessons for me. And while I wanted to keep posting, I think that the break was actually a good reset for me. My body was feeling really worn down, and I think I just kind of hit a breaking point where I needed to just pause everything and just let myself rest. So here I am. I'm back and so happy to be here. This has just been kind of a wild month, and I feel like there's been a lot on my mind, and some thoughts are still forming for maybe future episodes. But what I want to speak about today is this idea of letting go. I feel like that's been the biggest lesson for me these last few weeks of just needing to ask myself what would happen if I just let go. I think that in seasons of busyness, I get really swept up in my productivity and my to-do lists, which I've talked about before. And I've noticed that I also really try to control outcomes. When my mind becomes really active, when I fall into a cycle of overthinking, I really try to control what's happening around me by doing things and being productive. And I feel like the universe is really just teaching me and giving me lessons and circumstances of that are pointing me to this letting go. And I've been in this place before where it's just, it's this image of swimming upstream against the current versus kind of turning over and just allowing yourself to float while the current carries you where you need to go and just trusting that you are held and supported. And I think that is a tricky part of this human experience is that I really believe that we are all unique souls who chose to come here and have an experience for a specific reason. And also, we get to be humans living in this society that we find ourselves in. And I really find that it can be challenging to find the balance between that. It's easy to be fully in the flow and the woo and just not really be a participant. And it's easy to go the other way and really to let go of the fact that we are all souls here for a purpose and really to just focus on the humanness of it all. And I really feel that we're meant to find balance. And I've noticed in myself that I have been really out of balance. I've kind of gone to that side of the spectrum where I'm focused on all the humanness, all of the annoying parts of being human. And I really let go of my bigger purpose. I feel like all of the things that have been happening lately have been pointing me back to this place of realigning to why I came here in the first place and really reconnecting to my purpose. And part of that, I think, is really allowing more of my true self to show. And I've been really thinking about this and wanting to allow my spirituality to really come through. And I think that it can be easier for me to lead with my practical side because I feel that's more widely accepted. But I don't think that's in true alignment with my soul's purpose. Yes, I love to be helpful, and I do really feel called to helping and supporting others. And I feel like that is in alignment with my soul's purpose. But I really feel like where the magic lies for me is is allowing myself to share my belief in magic and spirituality and the universe and all of the things that that maybe aren't fully explainable. And so that's that's been on my mind lately of like what what could that look like and what is holding me back from fully sharing and fully being myself. It's interesting because I think as a collective, there's a lot that's really coming forward and a lot of these different modalities that maybe in the past were more in the shadows or being able to become more mainstream like astrology and tarot and even human design. And it feels really exciting. And I'm just wondering where my place in all of it is. So that's that's kind of where I'm at. I've really been thinking about this, this idea of letting go and just what does that even mean to me? And I shared just that image of kind of floating, floating down the river and having the current support you. And to me, when, when I think about letting go, I really think about just letting go of needing a specific outcome and trusting that I am supported and I am loved by the universe. And I have my intuition. I have my guides. I have loved ones on the other side supporting me. And I don't have to take it all on alone. Like, it's not up to me to, to make my dream life happen. I think that that's some conditioning and maybe a belief that I've held for a long time of this idea that like, if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself and that I'm alone in my experience. And that's just not true. There's so much support around me at any given time. And when I'm able to step outside and really connect with nature, I really see the evidence of that. I see so many aligned numbers. I get beautiful signs from my dad. And when I can take a moment to pause, I really feel that support. And I think it's when I get caught up in my thoughts and what I'm trying to get done, I really start to shift into that need and that desire to control. And it really comes from a place of fear, of just not knowing what's ahead. And I think that is perfectly normal and perfectly acceptable after experiencing such an immense amount of grief and such a deep and profound loss. I think back to that day that I lost my dad and how difficult it was to be so far away. And that was a choice that I made. And Seattle is a very aligning place for me, and it's where I belong. And that's not where my dad felt like he belonged. And that's okay. But yeah, on the day that he passed, it really was hard to be so far away and just the waiting and the not knowing and trying to make a plan and having the plan shift and ultimately not getting to see him before he passed. And honoring that, I truly believe that was what he wanted. When I was driving to the airport on that day, I remember just being in my car and talking out loud to him and just saying, you know, like, I'm on my way and I love you so much. And it's okay, like, you don't have to wait for me. Like, I'll be okay with whatever you choose, and I support whatever is best for you. I didn't know it at the time, but he actually passed very shortly after I had that conversation with him. And it was really important to me to honor what was best for him and his soul journey, just as it's important for me to honor what's best for me and my soul journey. And I'm a human with a human brain and human feelings, and not being there was just, it was really hard and that flight back was the longest and hardest flight I've ever experienced. And I think that often when I'm feeling like I don't have control, or I'm afraid of what's coming, or I'm too in my head, that's, I think back to that time, and I really try to control outcomes and think about like, okay, what can I do so that I feel like I'm in control? And I feel like the lesson for me is really just, how can I let go even more? How can I trust even more? Because there are always going to be obstacles and challenges in our path. That's how we grow and it's how we're shaped. And it's part of the journey. It's part of being human. It's part of being an adult. Is that like your parents are aging and it's inevitable. We'll all cross over at one point. And these are just themes that we experience in life. And so I've just taken some time to observe this desire, this part of me that really wants to feel in control. And I just want to send so much love and compassion to that part because she's trying so hard to keep it all together. And in fact, I think the answer is to just let it all go. What would happen if you just let go and you just let the current carry you as you float, trusting that you'll end up where you need to be and you'll have everything you need along the way? And I don't know exactly what that looks like in terms of daily mundane life, but I feel like that is the path to getting a little bit closer to my soul's purpose. And this idea that we all come here with a purpose and for a specific journey is just so interesting to me. And I think about it in terms of career a lot, but it's much bigger than that. It's who we are in every aspect of our lives. And I've been thinking about just the in-between space and how I feel so called to it, and how I really do feel like my soul designed who I am to be able to sit in that in-between. I think about it in terms of my moon in Pisces. I feel like I'm often straddling two worlds, the world that we find ourselves in now and what lies beyond in dreams and our unconscious. I feel like I'm in the in-between because I come from two different cultures, and I'm in the in-between there of feeling like I can relate to both and to none at all. And then here I am sharing from an in-between place, talking about seasons of transition and moving from one phase of life to another. The pieces are starting to click into place of like, wow, like that really is part of, part of my purpose and my soul chose this, this body, this background, the family I was born into, all of it for a specific reason and to have a specific experience and just how beautiful and special that is and, and what I can do or not do in this case, to really align with that purpose and that journey that my soul wants to go on. And so I'm still learning. It feels a little bit tender to even be sharing all of this, but I hope that you find it interesting. And I would love to hear if you have any, any thoughts or any comments. You can always email me or send me a message on Instagram. And I'm just so happy to be here with you and, have the space to share my thoughts and what I'm going through and what I'm processing. So thank you so much for being here with me.
