Letting The New Version Lead: Sitting With The Discomfort Of Moving Forward And Doing Things Differently

Episode 32: Letting The New Version Lead

This episode is a meandering reflection of where I’m at currently as I navigate the messiness of the in-between space. I reflect on where I’ve been and how I must learn to let go of the past in order to truly move forward into what’s next for me. You’ll enjoy this episode if you find yourself in a messy middle and want a little encouragement on your journey.

Summary

In this episode, I’m sharing from the messy middle of the in-between. After trying to record this episode several times, I realized that maybe it was never meant to feel perfectly polished. The beauty of this space is that it is unfinished, experimental, and full of possibility.

I reflect on how old patterns can resurface when we are becoming someone new. As I think about my writing, my novel, and the next evolution of the Shoreline, I’ve noticed myself wanting to approach this season the same way I built my jewelry company. That version of me was tenacious, hungry, and willing to figure things out through effort and pressure. But I am not that same person anymore.

This episode explores what it means to let the new version of yourself build in a new way. Writing asks something different of me than jewelry did. It asks for space, intuition, flow, and a willingness to disconnect from outside noise so the story can come through naturally.

I also share how uncomfortable it can feel to let something be easy, joyful, or intuitive when you are used to efforting your way forward. Sometimes the discomfort is not a sign that you are doing something wrong. Sometimes it is the feeling of growth, transformation, and a new identity beginning to take shape.

As I move through Mercury retrograde, Cancer season, and the reflection that comes before my birthday, I’m taking time to honor all the past versions of myself while making space for the one who is ready to lead now. I’m still in the in-between, still on my grief journey, still figuring it out, and also feeling a stronger call to support others through their own seasons of becoming.

This is an invitation to notice where you may be trying to build something new with an old version of yourself. What would shift if you let a different part of you take the lead? What might become possible if you allowed the path forward to feel more natural, spacious, and true?
